Jeers From The Peanut Gallery

A friend of mine, upon reading the previous rant, had this to say:

You know, it *is* possible to recognize the flaws and myriad missed opportunities over Lucas’ last 4 star wars films, without actually hating him or the films themselves. Yes, they are flawed. Yes, Lucas picked a terrible actor for Anakin in Phantom Menace and invented the travesty called Jar Jar, and he botched the love story in AotC. But still, those films are just beautiful to watch, and when he gets it right (Darth Maul’s battle with Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan, the clone trooper battle scenes, Count Dooku vs Obi-Wan/Anakin/Yoda) he still delivers the goods.

Of course, I didn’t spend my spare time building tiny lego shrines to Lucas, so maybe I’ve got a different perspective than certain people 🙂

The man has a point. It doesn’t change how I feel, but he’s got a point.

I have come to accept that there are people out there who can see through the haze of horror and pain that are the first two Star Wars films of this cycle, and enjoy the experience even though 50% of the frames that flash before their face are designed to lacerate your brain, like filmic razorblades. I, however, am not so immune. No.

And, yes, there is the lego shrine thing. I believe my views on this topic are, shall we say, skewed.
